Tourism worldwide including Bangladesh is an expanding sector. It provides a significant foreign exchange and employment to our country. Though its poor-country status, increasing numbers of tourists have visited Bangladesh, It is a new but minor source of foreign exchange earning. Tourism in the early 1990s amounted to some 49,000 visitors per year, but by 2006more than 129,000 tourists, mostly Come from India, the United States, Britain and Japan Who visited Bangladesh.

#OVERVIEW OF TOURISM PLACES IN COMILLA
Comilla District (Chittagong division) with an area of 3085.17 sq km, is bounded by Brammanbaria and Narayan Ganj districts on the north, Noakhali and Feni districts on the south, Tripura (state of India) on the east, Munshi Ganj and Chandpur districts on the west. In the suburb there exists the Commonwealth War Cemetery Memorials,bangladesh academy for rural development(BARD), Mainamati Museum, Shalvan Vihar.
COMILLA BIRD

BARD (Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development)
This is one of the main attractions in Comilla. This is one of the richest academic institutions for conducting research and action research; execute projects and pilot experimentation and imparting training in the diversified areas of rural development. Besides academic excellence, the beautiful gardens and planned plantations of various trees are really enjoyable. BARD has excellent accommodation facilities for over 250 persons and its cafeteria provides quality foods.
Buddis Bhihar

This site previously called salban rajar bari came out after archaeological excavation asa Buddhist monastery and hence termed as salban vihar From terracotta seals.It is a beautiful place to visit.
SALBAN

Salban almost in the middle of the Mainarnati-Lalmai hill range consists of 115 cells, built around a spacious courtyard with cruciform temple in the centre facing its only gateway complex to the north resembling that of the Paharpur Monastery.
Moinamoti museum
Moinamoti museum – where you will find the historical things found in Lalmai & Moinamoti of 7th & 8th centuries. The Mainamati site Museum has a rich and varied collection of copper plates, gold and silver coins and 86 bronze objects. Over 150 bronze statues have been recovered mostly from the monastic cells, bronze stupas, stone sculptures and hundreds of terracotta plaques each measuring on an average of 9" high and 8" to 12" wide. Mainamati is only 114 km.

War Cemetery

Second World War warrior's graveyards are in this Cemetery. These graves in this graveyard of the great warriors who died in world war from1939 to 1945 in Comilla areas. In this well-preserved cemetery at a quiet and picturesque place within the city lie buried ineternal peace over 400 soldiers from British, India, Japan, Myanmar, who laid down their lives on the Myanmar front during the World War II. Every year a number of tourists come here to visit this Cemetery .

*The highway from sylhet to comilla is very rough with many whole in the middle of the road and many damage bridges.
*Road accident happens usually daily on way to comilla road for reckless driving of drivers.
*There has been a lack of funds and technical expertise. The little seed money that the Bangladesh Tourism Fund has been established with can pump prime the initial take-off, with publication of promotional materials and familiarization tours.
*Lack of transport links (air, sea transport connecting major tourist destinations).

*Unstable political situation created a bad image , which should be taken as the biggest threat for development of tourism industry in Comilla

Bangladesh has a large number of tourist spot in its area. All of them have individual attraction . As a tourist spot Comilla has the ability to introduce Bangladesh with the people around the world. Bangladesh can promote its position through the proper utilization of tourism industry by these spot. Thus the overall condition can be improved by proper utilization of tourism sector in Comilla.so Bangladesh government should need to take positive steps to develop tourist places of comilla.
